Let me start off by saying that yesterday was one of the hardest days of my life. Granted it only laster 4.5 hours, but they may have been the hardest 4.5 hours ever. I've done 17 weeks at Fort Benning GA as an infantryman (11B) through various training schools. I've done a few years of competitive Mountain Bike racing. I also had one of the toughest wrestling coaches in this state.
Yesterday was simply my belt test for Krav Maga: We started with a 1.5 mile run stopping every quarter mile to do a set of burpies (hit the ground...do a push-up...and jump back up as fast as you can). When we got back from the run we went into about 1.5 hours of intense physical training (running hard while a partner give resistance, Planking Punches, Squat to kicks, up-downs to hard knees, etc...). On and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on it went. After that we got a 10 minute break to rehydrate and refuel. We ALL spent it eating energy bars, GU shots, and drinking Gatorade. Then we went into the grading (punching, hammer fists, elbows, knees, kicks, defense against chokes, defense against grabs, defense against headlocks, etc...) all while adding multiple combatives and "scanning and getting out". It was fast paced ("Under Stress") and brutal. I have marks on my neck and shoulders. When the testing was over we went to another run that they called a victory lap.
Today I am a little sore. Luckily my body has always healed quickly. We for a 30 minutes bike ride, a couple of hours in the pool, and another 30 minute bike ride (all relaxing paced). My calf muscles are a little sore, but all in all it a day to be proud of. I've heard a few people can't make it to the finish.
Time for bed.
